All students learn differently. With this teacher's have to be cognizant of how students learn based on knowledge of individual's social, emotional, and intellectual maturation. We need to create learning experiences where all students can be successful. For my teaching this involves PBL (project based learning) to reach all students. Below is a student handout of a unit on thermal energy and temperature.
I like to assess based on daily reflections (shown below) so I can identify ways students’ developmental levels affect their thinking processes and learning. I can also see the progression students makes during different stages of development.
This also seems to be lower stress on students and they end up thinking the project is harder than all other assignments. I believe they think this because they are required to put so much work into their project and they value their project wanting to be sure they did their best. Whereas during a test a student takes it and considers it done. A project, on the other hand, is ever evolving and students minds keep twisting and turning trying to come up with new ideas.
Throughout implementing the unit plan below, I was part of a differentiation class that helped me connect with other teachers that were also doing projects. This helped me to get ideas and refine my own plan in the implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research-based, learner-centered assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students. I also had to be When creating this unit I started with content standards and student technology standards and built off of that to design a project. The project I implemented I found online and made a few tweaks to fit my classroom. Overall the project went well, it just took longer than expected. Everyday students came in excited to complete the next part of the house building. Ideas were churning in the minds and the teamwork they demonstrated was superb.

Goal 2: Educators understand how human development affects learning and apply that understanding to practice.
SOE Goals
a. identify ways students’ developmental levels affect their thinking processes and learning (K)
b. accommodate differences in how students learn based on knowledge of individual's social, emotional, and intellectual maturation. (S)
c. demonstrate and appreciate the unique thinking processes of learners during different stages of development. (D)
ISTE Standards (NETS-C)
2a. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences addressing content standards and student technology standards
2b. Coach teachers in and model design and implementation of technology-enhanced learning experiences using a variety of research-based, learner-centered assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students
