This video shows the final project after the unit was taught. I modified a project to fit with my curriculum. Students learned material at their own rate by going through videos using edpuzzle and then reading using actively learn. Throughout the lesson days I added in Kahoot to assess their knowledge. We spent about 4 days on this and on the last day I added in some background for designing and how to cite sources for their research. Students then planned out their houses and bought materials from me. Their goal was to make the cheapest but most efficiently insulated house. At the end students were to either make a video or write a report to show what they had learned from this project. This project was hands-on and I was able to show my belief that a combination of constructionism, constructivism, and connectivism, which are all supported with research-based theory and evidence, help students learn in a way that they find meaningful. In the end I was able to apply my philosophy, beliefs, and theory to practice. I did not always using projects to assess students. With standardized tests I thought it was better to give students in practice. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but my students were not doing well on the tests. I knew something had to change. I decdied to look at my philosophy of education and see what I could change based on research and teaching experience. This project was the start of my shift as an educator to more project based learning due to my research on the subject.
