A few years ago LKSD became a Google district. Teachers were given google emails and access to all of the Google apps. Shortly after that students were given Google emails as well, at the teacher's request. We initially had training on what Google could do for us as teachers and I instantly knew it would be perfect for my classroom. In LKSD we have weekly professional development for teachers on Fridays. During this time teachers have the chance to share what they are doing their classrooms. We have the chance to model use of online and blended learning, digital content, and collaborative learning networks to support and extend student learning as well as expand opportunities and choices for online professional development for teachers and administrators.
For a couple of years I had access to iPads, and last year my iPads were traded for computers. For the past 3 years I have been using Google classroom to manage my online classroom resources and it allows me to maintain and manage a variety of digital tools and resources for teacher and student use in technology-rich learning environments. Below is a quick peek at my classroom site for biology semester 2 (2016-2017). Google classroom allows me to post a daily warm-up, that I can quickly scan to see where students are at, I post online resources, for easy access, and even post links to collect student work. It has really simplified technology resources in the classroom for me and my students. I use technology daily in planning, instruction, and assessment to support student learning. Through trial and error I have learned many things that work and others that don't work. Google has been a great addition because of the ease at signing in to other resources. Once a student signs into Google they can sign into almost any website.
