Actively Learn is a great technological tool that allows students to work at their own pace and allows the teacher to give feedback almost immediately. It is also great as a formative assessment where I can tell if students are understanding what they are reading of if more teaching needs to be done. I can also coach students as they are learning and correct misconceptions, if needed. It is an effective use of technology tools and resources to continuously assess student learning and technology literacy by applying formative assessments aligned with content and student technology standards. Below is an example of a student's responses. Instead of stopping when they were done they continually tried to correct their wrong responses. This is one example of a of a technology-enhanced learning experience using research-based, learner-centered assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students instructional strategies and assessment tools to address the diverse needs and interests of all students. As the teacher I was able to individually coach all students to the correct answers, including the students who do not normally ask for help.
Below is an example of a portion of the gradebook on Actively Learn. Actively Learn allows so many ways to sort data with just the click of a button. My favorite aspect is the color coding which allows me to quickly scan the data to see where my students are at. This allows me to use technology tools and resources to systematically collect and analyze student achievement data, interpret results, and communicate findings to improve instructional practice and maximize student learning.
